The 3D painting workshop that textile artist Vicki Wheeler led introduced some creative and technical methods techniques, taking inspiration from her Ladder piece in the TACTILE handling collection. The session started with an introduction to the TACTILE piece and a discussion around some of the ideas that inspired  the piece. The students were then given an object that they can use to playfully create a 3D painting. Thinking about space, texture, contrast and how they related to the object they were using they each produced a 3D paintings. The Knowledge Series is a programme of exhibition tours given by students from the School of Arts, Histories and Cultures (University of Manchester) to secondary and post-16 students. For ‘COTTON: Global Threads‘ we arranged for the Knowledge Series students to do a workshop with artist and designer, Vicki Wheeler so they could gain practical insight into creative and tactile processes.
